Any advice you can give will be much appreciated! I think that is still a pretty good deal. The only things I have identified that I need to do is an oil change ($80), reupholster the seat ($150), and master key replacement ($427). Should I give this scooter back to the seller? I paid him $1300. Right now I have identified the following parts on :Ħ38834 - CDI/EDU electronic control unit X-9 - $354ĥ75810 - OEM Piaggio key with transponder - $40Īm I missing any parts or pieces? Do I need a scooter specialist mechanic to switch out all these parts and program the master/slave keys? Or is this something any respectable motorcycle service shop can do? Is the 2005 Piaggio X9 Evolution a non-injector bike? I am asking this so I can price out the parts I would need to buy. I don't know what a non-injector bike is. on a non-injector bike I would need to replace the key, locks, and CDI. If I wanted to get a complete new master key, I have read that I would need to replace the keys, locks, decoder and EDU. But perhaps that fuse controls something else in the scooter? Please forgive my ignorance. I think what he did is by-pass the system. He said he removed the fuse that controlled the device as the light never stopped blinking and he though it was draining his battery. So other than losing the blue (slave) key, what issues could I have by not having the brown master key? When I was with the seller he was telling me about the anti-theft immobiliser light. I got the scooter well below my budget so I can put some money into the thing. It ended in him offering to take the scooter back. There are some more texts that went back and forth. I commented that the old owner told him that cause he didn't have the master key. A few texts later he said that he remembered the owner telling him to never lose his key "because it was very important, but never bothered tocheck details about it and never had a need all this time, just learned something new". I then sent him the link to the webpage with a reply, "In case you ever buy another Piaggio". the master should be the one that runs the ignition not the brown but black and there is a third key there which is a copy I believe but never had a brown key". He replied "those are all the keys I had and I was given from the old owners. Gawd! I broke that rule! So I started texting with the seller. THE GOLDEN RULE for all Piaggio bikes is NEVER BUY ONE WITHOUT THE BROWN MASTER KEY.p" When I clicked on the link "Immobaliser", I began to have a panic attack. On the website, they have a page for common problems associated with the Piaggio X9. So, in researching this issue of the non-working electro-hydraulic center stand, I ran across the X9 Owners Club Website and Forum.
